PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transporting robot which can transport an article without imposing excessive stress on the same, and can deliver the transported article to a predetermined location with good accuracy. SOLUTION: In operation of the article transporting robot, an adsorbing element 2 attached to a base 1 of a hand sucks and adsorbs the article 3 by a vacuum suction force from a pickup location that does not make contact with the article 3. Then the robot moves the hand to move the adsorbing element 2 to a release location, and vacuum acting on the adsorbing element 2 is nullified to release the article 3, to thereby arrange the article to a predetermined arrangement space 4. According to the article transporting robot, the adsorbing element 2 does not press the article 3 at the time of adsorbing the article and at the time of releasing the same, and therefore the robot can transport the article without imposing an unadvantageous stress on the same.
