<p>A highly reliable controller of an AC generator is provided without using transistors and diodes having a high breakdown voltage. A controller of an AC generator for vehicles which has a voltage control circuit for controlling the output voltage of a rectifier circuit connected to a stator coil at an almost constant level comprises a first active switch with one end connected to one end of a field coil and the other end connected to a negative output terminal of the rectifier circuit, a second active switch with one end connected to a positive output terminal of the rectifier circuit and the other end connected to the other end of the field coil, a first passive switch connected between the negative output terminal of the rectifier circuit and the connecting node between the second active switch and the field coil, and a second passive switch connected between the positive output terminal of the rectifier circuit and the connecting node between the first active switch and the field coil. The turn-on/off of the first and second active switches are independently controlled.</p> |
