Method of visually assisting examination or treatment of the heart using an invasive instrument using a three dimensional x=ray image

The method uses an x-ray system for obtaining three dimensional image data of the heart and a locating system for the instrument. A transmitter fastened to the x-ray system emits radio waves and a receiver fastened to the instrument enables determination of the location of the instrument relative to the x-ray system. Three dimensional image data of the heart are generated. The coordinates of the position of the instrument are determined. The three dimensional image can be viewed on a screen with a blended in image of the instrument.
