PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely restrain a slip of an endless belt for transmitting output torque of a motor for cranking a crankshaft of an engine. SOLUTION: This starting control device can smoothly starts the engine by quickly converging the slip by controlling the output torque of the motor in predetermined output torque or less at points b1, b2, b3 and b4 when a motor rotating speed Nm detected by a motor rotating speed detecting means is a rotating speed Nmαor more higher by a predetermined quantityαthan a rotating speed Nmi after starting the engine, that is, when the slip of the endless belt is large when starting the engine by connecting a rotary shaft of the motor and the crankshaft by the endless belt. Since the predetermined output torque is set in the transmittable size even in a state of reducing frictional force with a pulley when the endless belt is flooded, the slip can be surely converged. Thus, since the slip of the endless belt is restrained with only the motor rotating speed as a parameter without setting the engine speed as the parameter, cost can be reduced by reducing the number of sensors.
