PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the stopping distance of a vehicle without a time lag in the brake response at the time of applying an emergency brake. SOLUTION: A brake chamber 11 is connected in communication with a main air tank 13 through a driving air passage 12, which is equipped with a relay valve 16 having a signal part, and the relay valve 16 supplies and exhausts to/from brake chamber 11 the compressed air with a pressure complying with the signaling quantity to the signal part. To a brake pedal 17 a brake valve 18 is connected which transmits to the signal part, signals in a quantity corresponding to the stamp-in amount of the brake pedal 17, and an auxiliary air tank 21 is connected in communication with one end of a short auxiliary air passage 19 whose other end is connected in communication with the driving air passage 12 in the neighborhood of the brake chamber 11. A controller 26 is structured to supply the compressed air in the auxiliary air tank 21 to the brake chamber 11 on the basis of the sensing output of a stamp-in sensor 24.
