PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a belt-shaped material of metal and the like by continuous casting, by which a product having high thickness accuracy can be manufactured. SOLUTION: In the method, the product thickness of a belt-shaped material 3 is expressed by a function, which is used for calculating a control output quantity and controlling a thickness. The function is composed of: a gap between the outlet opening of a nozzle 4 and a cooling roll 5; a pressure of molten metal at the nozzle 4; a temperature of molten metal at the nozzle 4; a peripheral speed of the cooling roll 5; and a group of thickness influencing factors being the cooling characteristics of the cooling roll 5.
