An address book sharing method and a system for performing the method are provided to mutually share an address book of a messenger with a phone book of a mobile communication terminal to update the shared address book, thereby efficiently managing information on acquaintances. A phone book unit(102) stores a lot of personal information. A controller(101) receives a user's messenger address book to compare the messenger address book with the phone book unit(102), and updates the phone book unit(102). If omitted information of the messenger address book exists in the phone book unit(102), the omitted information is added to the phone book unit(102). A transceiver(106) receives the messenger address book from a messenger server, and transmits the phone book unit(102) to the messenger server. A menu unit(104) sets an update mode of the phone book unit(102).
