PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element having small luminance irregularities on a luminous surface by unifying current distribution in the light-emitting element in which an electrode is formed on the side of the same surface.
SOLUTION: The light-emitting element has a semiconductor layer that contains: a first-conductivity layer 12; a luminous layer 13 made of a gallium-nitride-based compound semiconductor; and a second-conductivity layer 14 while they are laminated in this order. The light-emitting element is provided with: a second-conductivity electrode 16 formed on the second-conductivity layer 14; and a first-conductivity electrode 15 formed on the exposed section of the first-conductivity layer 12 where the second-conductivity layer 14 is removed partially up to the first-conductivity layer 12. In the semiconductor layer, a groove 17 is formed along an edge at the side of the luminous layer 13 of the first-conductivity electrode 15 in the exposed section of the first-conductivity layer 12.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
