PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a screen display without giving a sense of discomfort to a user by correcting changes in colors of backlight light caused by the difference in temperature characteristics of light sources in a backlight device having two or more kinds of light sources. SOLUTION: The backlight 8 has a light source unit comprising a CFL 81 and a LED 82 having different light emission colors, in which beams emitting from the light sources are mixed to generate the light to be supplied to the rear face of a liquid crystal panel 5. A light receiving unit 11 receives the light from light source unit of the backlight 8; a deviation computing circuit 12 computes and analyzes the light components received by the light receiving unit 11; a microcomputer 7 generates an LED output control signal to control the light emission energy of the LED 82 according to the color deviation computed by the deviation computing circuit and sends the signal to a LED driving circuit 10.
