PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate by changing the shape of a case involving a float, when changing by the liquid amount in a container, a time (responsiveness) until a changed position is detected by the float at a level changing time in the container, compared with a case wherein a responsiveness change is processed electrically. SOLUTION: This liquid level sensor 1 having the container 2 for storing liquid, the float 4 for liquid level detection, the case 3 involving the float, and a liquid communicating hole 3c for communicating the case 3 inside with the container 2 inside, is formed so that the horizontal sectional area in the case 3 is changed in the vertical direction.
