The radial roller bearing, especially for a machine tool's main spindle, has an outer bearing race (3) fastened in the spindle housing only by a lateral radial projection (10) of its outer generated surface (11), and in addition to this projection has a recess (12) which covers its running track (5) and in which is located a tension ring (13) which radially constricts the running track and consists of a material with a higher thermal expansion coefficient than the material of the outer race, allowing compensation for temperature-affected radial clearance between the bearing races.
