<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a retainer 1 having a groove 10 suitable for manufacturing a control valve type lead-acid battery. <P>SOLUTION: A nearly cylindrical roller 7 is used which has a side with a nearly U-shaped recession 11. Further, a lower roller is provided under the roller so that the long retainer is transported between the roller and the lower roller. The roller 7 is rotated in a state to abut on the long retainer 21 being transported from the upper side, and the groove 10 which continues in the lengthwise direction of the long retainer 21 is formed, then the long retainer is cut and inwardly bent at the groove 10, and thus the retainer 1 is manufactured. When the groove 10 is formed, the right and left ends of the long retainer 21 abutting on the roller 7 are always held by means of hold jigs 9 from the upper side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
