PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an imaging apparatus capable of improving performance attained when performing AF processing, and its program. SOLUTION: When a shutter button is half depressed (Y in S2), a timer is started (S3) and whether or not predetermined time elapses is judged (S4). When judging that the predetermined time does not elapse in S4, whether or not the shutter button is fully depressed is judged (S5), and when judging that the shutter button is not fully depressed, operation is restored to the step S4. When the predetermined time elapses without fully depressing the shutter button (that is, it is judged as a situation that rapid photographing is not required), the AF processing by a contrast detection system is performed based on image data output from a CCD 3 driven for displaying a through-image (S8). Meanwhile, when the shutter button is fully depressed before the predetermined time elapses (Y in S5), the driving of the CCD 3 is switched to high-speed driving and the AF processing by the contrast detection system is performed (S6).
