PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To match a consecutive photographing enabled operation timing, in a lens device with a consecutive photographing operation timing in an imaging apparatus, and to control the consecutive photographic operation of the imaging apparatus, according to the performance of the lens device. SOLUTION: A lens device 115 is mounted detachably in an imaging apparatus 116. The imaging apparatus includes imaging means 103-106 for imaging an object to generate a video signal; a consecutive photographing means 106 for continuously generating a plurality of still images by using the imaging means; a communication means 110 for communicating with the lens device; and a control means 108 for controlling the consecutive photographing means based on information, regarding the lens device that has been received by the communication.
