PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paddle type shift operation device of a transmission capable of ensuring compatibly an easy shift operation in such a state that a steering wheel is held in a small steering angle operation area, and the shift operation which does not confuse a driver in a large steering angle operation area. SOLUTION: The paddle type shift operation device of the transmission is equipped with a pair of shift paddles 71, 72 which are provided at the position of a steering wheel 70. The pair of shift paddles 71, 72 forms a means moving along with the steering wheel 7 by following the steering angle from the neutral position having zero in steering operation amount to a predetermined amount, and stopping at a predetermined position irrespective of the position of the steering wheel 70, when the steering operation amount exceeds a predetermined amount.
