PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid purification apparatus which is provided a porous material coated with a silica gel photocatalyst, especially excellent in strength, reactant permeability, adsorbability, optical transparency, photocatalyst efficiency, etc. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with: photocatalyst substance 13 making contact with a fluid; and a light source 16 which excites the photocatalyst substance 13. The photocatalyst substance 13 is arranged as the porous material 5 coated with silica gel photocatalyst on the surface of the inner and outer walls of the porous material having an average pore diameter of≥1μm as a layer containing silica gel and the photocatalyst substance. The layer containing the silica gel and the photocatalyst substance is composed of a silica gel layer and a photocatalyst substance layer. The layer containing the silica gel and the photocatalyst substance is a mixed layer of the silica gel and the photocatalyst substance or a layer of substance where the inside of silica gel pores is coated with or carries the photocatalyst substance.
