PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paint composition for multi-color design excellent in water and weather resistance, and suitable for exterior painting. SOLUTION: The paint composition for multi-color design is prepared by dispersing a water based color paint (I) containing a synthetic resin emulsion (a), a gel forming substance (b) and a coloring pigment (c) in an aqueous medium (II) containing a gelling agent (d), wherein an emulsion-polymerized polymer of a monomer group mainly composed of an alkyl (meth)acrylate is used as the synthetic resin emulsion, and the monomer group has a content of a carboxyl group-containing monomer of a 3 wt.% or less.
