<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling pulsed light by which the pulsed light is captured by ultrashort pulsed light in an optical fiber and the wavelength, the time waveform and throughput time of the pulsed light to be controlled is controlled and to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: Control pulsed light 2 and pulsed light to be controlled 1 are made incident on an optical fiber 6. In this case, the pulsed light to be controlled 1 having a wavelength existing within the anomalous scattering range of the optical fiber is prepared, and the control pulsed light 2 having a wavelength within the normal dispersion range of the optical fiber is prepared. When the control pulsed light 2 is made incident earlier than the pulsed light to be controlled 1, the pulsed light to be controlled 1 catches up and collides with the control pulsed light 2 in the optical fiber 6. Then, based on the nonlinear change of refractive index induced by the control pulsed light 2, the pulsed light to be controlled 1 is captured and is propagated together with the control pulsed light 2 while being overlapped each other. The wavelength of the pulsed light to be controlled 1 is shifted to a wavelength at which the pulsed light to be controlled 1 has the same group velocity as that of the control pulsed light 2.</p> |
