PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory reduction method with which high gradation (multi-color display) can be attained with smaller memory capacity by a driver system for a FDP built-in with the memory, and a circuit. SOLUTION: R, G, B spaces which are three primary colors of colors are transformed to a display system using color difference information. By paying attention to the characteristic that the human eyes are more sensitive to the components of luminance than the color differences, more data are allocated by the luminance information. By paying attention to the characteristic that wavelet transformation can be compressed in the state of maintaining even a high-frequency component as a method in which color difference information is thinned out, the information is held by using the wavelet transformation.
