PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation device of photosynthesis for simply and compactly reproducing an accurately controlled simulated global environment and evaluating the fixing amount of carbon dioxide due to photosynthesis with high precision, or an evaluation method of photosynthesis. SOLUTION: This evaluation device of photosynthesis has a testing air producing means 3 for mixing raw material air 1 and a carbon dioxide concentration gas 2 to produce testing air with a predetermined carbon dioxide concentration, a testing chamber 4 for receiving the testing air obtained by the testing air producing means 3 and capable of closing a specimen T, which performs of photosynthesis, in a hermetically closable state a light source part 11 for irradiating the specimen T with light, a carbon dioxide concentration measuring means 7 for measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide in the outlet gas of the testing chamber 4 and a treatment means 8 for calculating the amount of carbon dioxide fixed by the specimen from the concentration of carbon dioxide of the testing air and the concentration of carbon dioxide measured by the carbon dioxide concentration measuring means 7.
