PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mount and support a book in a most viewable and easy-to-handle state even when used in a bath; and to compactly store in non-use. SOLUTION: A base frame A having a fitting mount part 2 detachably fitted and mounted to the side of a plate body in a clamping state is attached with a book receiving frame C having a backrest part 3 which receives the back side of the book in an inclined attitude of its positioned higher as it approaches to the opening tip side of the fitting mount part 2. Also, the base frame A or the book receiving frame C or the both are formed with receiving parts 4 detachably mounting and supporting the lower end of the book in portions deflected to the inner side of the fitting mount part 2. This bookrest is constituted to be changeable into a book receiving attitude where the book receiving frame C is swingably connected to the base frame A to be erected in a prescribed attitude in the upper part of the base frame A, and a storage attitude where the base frame A is approached and swung to the side of the bookrest part 3 with at least a part of the base frame A intruding into a book receiving area S1 of the book receiving frame C.
