A method and an apparatus for initializing a digital broadcasting receiver are provided to perform the quick initialization of the digital broadcasting receiver although services provided from the digital broadcasting receiver are increased. An application manager generates/executes the first task for initializing a device for a service corresponding to an initial channel from a received broadcasting signal, and generates the second task to initialize a device for another service except for the service corresponding to the initial channel together with the execution of the first task(S10,S20,S35). A task executing unit judges whether an execution message for the generated second task is received(S53). If the execution message is received, the task executing unit executes the second task(S56).
