STRAIN FOR PRODUCING alpha-GLUCOSIDASE INHIBITOR IN LARGE AMOUNT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new strain which produces an α-glucosidase inhibitor in a large amount, and to provide various medicines, foods, beauty compositions, and the like which each uses the strain.

SOLUTION: This Bacillus subtilis var. DC-15 strain producing α-glucosidase inhibitor in a large amount is cultured and separated from the fermentation product (fermented soybeans) of steamed soybeans. A method for producing α-glucosidase inhibitor with the strain, and a method for producing a functional food with the strain. A pharmaceutical composition, a functional food, and a beauty composition each contains the α-glucosidase inhibitor. Thereby, the strain producing the α-glucosidase inhibitor in a large amount can be obtained. The strain can usefully be used for producing various functional foods such as fermented soybeans (the fermentation products of steamed soybeans), and the α-glucosidase inhibitor produced from the strain can usefully be used for producing hypoglycemic agents, antiobestic functional foods, and the like which have high added values.
