PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device using a high-performance organic thin-film transistor at a low cost by preventing deterioration of an organic semiconductor film occurring, at forming of an alignment layer. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device which has a thin-film transistor substrate having respective members, including the thin-film transistor comprising a gate electrode, a gate insulating film, source and drain electrodes, and a semiconductor layer, wiring, and a pixel electrode; and a counter electrode holding a liquid crystal layer in between the thin-film transistor substrate, alignment layer, having function of controlling molecular alignment of the liquid crystal layer, is prevented from being interposed between the semiconductor layer and the liquid crystal layer.
