PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of generating electronic data resulting from compressing an image whose size is proper to transmission and storage and from an image in an image area included in the processed image of which an excellent searching result can be obtained. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus disclosed herein divides an image into a plurality of regions in response to a plurality of kinds of attributes, and acquires feature quantity data from image information of the first attribute area (image area) among the regions above. Then the image processing apparatus applies compression processing to the image to acquire compressed data.
