PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device allowing explanations of functions mounted on the device to be quickly confirmed, a display operation device, processor, a photographing device, and a display method. SOLUTION: The display device includes; a display screen; a mark image display part which displays a plurality of mark images representing a plurality of functions respectively, on a first area extending like a band on the display screen in a prescribed order and moves a mark image representing a selected function within the first area so as to display this mark image in a prescribed area portion while keeping the plurality of mark image in this order; and an explanation display part which displays explanations of the function represented by the mark image displayed in the area portion, on a second area which crosses the first area in the area portion and extends like a band.
