PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently stabilize grounding of an electric circuit board on a carriage at a low cost while preventing the occurrence of a problem of a shorter contact lifetime and a problem of scream noise due to rubbing. SOLUTION: An image reading section A is provided with: the carriage 110 movable along an image face of an original d<SB>1</SB>placed on a contact glass 11; and an ADF 120. The carriage is mounted with a conductive carriage frame 110a and the electric circuit board to which a ground terminal is connected and an analog signal circuit for processing an electric signal output from a CCD image sensor is mounted. In an ADF read mode, the image is read while the carriage is at a standstill on a home position S1. In this case, a metal plate spring 13 fixed to a unit casing 10 is in contact with the carriage frame.
