PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the performance of a variable display game by displaying specific symbols largely to sufficiently exert expected game performance. SOLUTION: The slot machine comprises reels for variably displaying a plurality of symbols, a pattern determining means for determining patterns to be displayed at a standstill on a prize line L1 and a pattern display control means for controlling the stop display of patterns on the prize line L1 for performing a variable display game by the variable display and stop display of symbols and putting out a dividend corresponding to the combination of stop symbols. The pattern display control means performs two-step stop display control by temporarily stopping an adjoining region W1b adjacent to the central region W1a of a high dividend pattern W1, thereafter stopping the central region W1a on the prize line L1 to display at a standstill the high dividend pattern W1 on the prize line L1.
