The security post, primarily for hindering or preventing vehicular access, comprises an elongate rigid element with a first end 14 that is insertable into a support for supporting the post extending from a surface, wherein the rigid element comprises two or more adjacent, mutually divergent wall portions 16,18 that are joined to one another at one edge and disconnected from one another at a further edge such that the rigid element has an opening extending along a side thereof The first end of the rigid element preferably includes at least one retention flange 20 extending therefrom which, when the rigid element is vertical, preferably extends at an incline relative to the rigid element and perpendicular to a side wall portion. The retention flange is preferably integrally formed with the first end of the rigid element. The rigid element also preferably includes at least one aperture 22 formed so that, in use, it is above the surface. The post preferably includes at least one connector 24, which may comprise a part-spherical element 32 secured to disc-shaped portions 26,28 extending from the in-use free end of the post that have slots for engaging the spherical element to form a spheroidal matrix of edges that are engageable by a vehicle hitch. The post may also include a strengthening flange and the wall portions may be split into in-use upper and lower parts that are separated by a parting line and hinged together whereby in use the post is hingeable relative to the surface from which it protrudes. The post may include a link panel connecting the free edges of the wall portions. The first and second wall portions preferably taper in width away from the first edge of the post.
