A frame interpolation method using warping transformation and an apparatus therefor are provided to minimize image quality degradation capable of being generated in frame interpolation by effectively removing a motion blurring artifact due to a blocking artifact generated in a hold type display. A motion estimation unit(200) receives a continuous image signal including the first frame and the second frame, and estimates motion between the first frame and the second frame. A motion vector generating unit(210) generates a motion vector between the first frame and the second frame from the estimated motion. An identifying unit(220) identifies an object and a background of an interpolation frame to be inserted from the generated motion vector. An interpolation frame generating unit(230) performs the warping transformation of the object, applies a block-based frame interpolation method to the background, and inserts the interpolation frame between the first frame and the second frame.
