Headings B3B, B3K and B3T A machine tool comprising in combination a lathe and a milling-machine constituted by a main frame 1 having a work-table 2 mounted thereon for movement in a vertical plane and comprising a fixed head-stock 3 and a movable tail-stock 4. The main frame 1 has two identical lateral shoulders 5, each constituting slides for an auxiliary frame 6 which is movable in a horizontal plane perpendicular to the worktable 2. Attached to the frame 6 are orientable rectangular tables 7 movable in the vertical plane about a horizontal axis on an annular slide 8. A rectilinear slide 9 attached to the table 7 forms a guide for a tool-mounting carriage 10 to which is pivotally attached a tool plate 11 which is always located in a vertical position whatever the inclination of table 7 and carriage 10. The plate 11 constitutes a support for a plurality of milling cutters 12 which are angularly adjustable. The head-stock 3 is provided with workdriving spindles 25a and 25b driven via a gear transmission by a motor 37, which includes means for indexing the workpieces if required. The lower ends of the workpieces are supported and located on the tail-stock 4 by centres 43 and 43b. The movement of the frame 6, table 7 and carriage 10 are hydraulically operated from a pump 13, the frame 6 and carriage 10 being actuated by a tracer 20b and template 20a. The vertical movement of the work-table 2 is controlled by a motor 22 fixed to the frame 1 and by means of a screw 23 extending from the head-stock 3. The machine facilitates the machining of rectilinear or spiral grooves in workpieces of various cross-sectional shapes. |
