The invention relates to a packaging method comprising sealing two container halves (2, 3) by welding a peripheral sheet like sealing member (8) over adjacent peripheral rim surfaces (6, 7) on corresponding peripheral flanges (4, 5) of the container halves, wherein the sheet like sealing member comprises at least one first layer having a support function, and at least one second layer having a sealing function.
