[Class 94 (ii)] Means for drying envelopes &c. having gummed closure flaps comprise an endless conveyer l, flaps e carried thereby and between which the envelopes &c. a, to be dried are delivered end-on with their gummed closure flaps d trailing, means, e.g. a curved guide m or a suction roller p, co-operating with the conveyer, to cause the gummed flaps d to take up a leading position during drying and means, e.g. a curved guide g and rollers h, i, for folding the gummed flaps and for delivering the envelopes &c. to a table k in stacks. The conveyer preferably comprises two chains to the links of which the flaps e are so attached that they overlap to grip the envelopes, except when they are passing around the end and top rolls. The lower roll c of the gumming rolls b, c may be a suction roll to prevent adherence of the envelope flap to the gummer o, and the roll i of the delivery pair may also be formed as a suction roll. |
