A mobile communication terminal having an alarm function and an operating method thereof are provided to output an alarm through an external device and control the volume of the outputted alarm by controlling the external device to be operated according to an alarm setting, thereby improving user's convenience by increasing the alarm recognition rate. A mobile communication terminal having an alarm function comprises the followings: a local communication module(30) for transmitting a control signal; a remote control unit(20) for generating an operation control signal according to the operation of an external device(A) and transmitting the operation control signal through the local communication module(30) so that a predetermined sound can be outputted as an alarm from the external device(A) capable of local communication and sound output; and a control unit(10) controlling the remote control unit(20) according to the set alarm to control the volume of an alarm sound outputted through the external device(A).
