A composition comprising liquiritigenin is provided to be able to inhibit the increase of alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), and significantly decreases necrosis of interstitial cell, thereby being usefully used as a liver disease prophylatic and therapeutic composition. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating liver diseases such as drug induced liver diseases, alcoholic liver diseases, acute hepatitis or chronic hepatitis comprises liquiritigenin as an effective ingredient. The composition further comprises dimethyl-4,4'-dimethoxy-5,6,5',6'-dimethylene dioxybiphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylate(DDB). Regarding the total composition, 0.1-50 wt.% of the liquiritigenin is contained. |
