摘要 A method and an apparatus for controlling a welding robot using patterns are provided to improve uniformity of a welding line and convenience of the welding operation by systematizing a conventional welding operation into a series of operations. A method for controlling a welding robot using patterns comprises: a step(S10) of setting up a sensing pattern in which a robot controller senses a touching direction through a directional vector on a space; a step(S20) of setting up a welding pattern for performing welding on one welding line; a step(S30) of setting up a rotating pattern for performing welding on a starting part and an end part of the one welding line; a step(S40) of setting up a weaving pattern for implementing welding in a zigzag form; a step(S50) of setting up an arc pattern for dividing voltage, current and other welding conditions by forming angles according to the start, the middle and the end of the concerned welding line; and a pattern selecting step(S60) of controlling the patterns of welding by selecting patterns and determining sequence of the patterns selected from the respective set sensing pattern, welding pattern, rotating pattern, weaving pattern and arc pattern according to the need of welding.
