The mattress has an air tight housing which is filled with balls. A valve permits the suction of the air in a pocket. The valve is opened to maintain the air present inside the pocket at atmospheric pressure. A part to be treated is installed on the mattress for conforming the mattress to the part to be treated. The air present inside the pocket is aspirated to stiffen the pocket and maintain the shape of the pocket adapted to the part.
