A method and a device for sterilizing water by applying alternating voltage are provided to achieve the more efficient sterilization of a microorganism by finely controlling the voltage in situ where a fluid object to be treated exists, and to prevent the carcinogen, like trihalomethane, or other by-products from being generated. The device for sterilizing the water by applying an alternating voltage comprises: a working electrode tube(8), having an inlet(7a) through which the fluid object to be treated flows in, and a working electrode, and configured in such a manner that a surface opposite to the inlet(7a) is closed; a counter electrode tube(6), inserted into an outer circumferential surface of the working electrode tube(8) in such a manner that it is distanced by a determined interval from the latter, and having a reference electrode(4) and a counter electrode formed; and a power supply(3), applying plus and minus voltages to the working electrode alternatively and repeatedly. |
