The invention refers to a ventral plate for stabilization of the spinal column, with a plate body displaying a number of openings for accepting bone screws passing through the openings and screwed into the vertebral body of the adjacent vertebra. The plate body is configured in a "U" shape with a base crosspiece and projecting from it two side pieces in which the openings are formed.
