摘要 An apparatus and method for measuring water quality toxicity using an organism are provided to reduce incorrect warning and toxicity detecting time, increase number of monitoring channels by minimizing load of a computer, and protect ecosystem and water resources of river. The apparatus for measuring water quality toxicity using the organism comprises: a water tank(10) having at least one organism; an image-capturing tool(30) for monitoring and picturing motion of the organism in the water tank; an image-treating tool(53) for extracting the motion of the organism from the image data and labeling the extracted image data by each individual; an activity-quantifying tool(55) for quantifying the activity of the organism by using the motion data of the organism and calculating the moving position and distance per unit time; an estimation tool(57) for estimating the contamination and toxicity of water quality by using the quantified value of the organism activity; and an output tool(70) for outputting the results of the estimation into image, letter or voice, wherein the organism is water flea; the image-capturing tool is web cam; the activity-quantifying tool is a lattice counter; and the output tool contains a monitor and a warning sound-generating tool.
