PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure an efficient and rational refrigeration cycle that increases the storage volume of the lowest storage compartment and increases the efficiency of storage by mounting a compressor above. SOLUTION: A refrigerator includes a recess 50 formed lower than the ceiling of an insulated box 31 at the back of the ceiling; and the refrigeration cycle forming a series refrigerant line with the compressor 52, a condenser 91, an evaporator 83 and connecting piping disposed in the insulated box. The compressor 52 is stored in the recess 50, and the condenser 91 is arranged at least in the recess and near the bottom of the insulated box. The refrigeration cycle can thus increase the storage volume of the lowest storage compartment, increase the efficiency of storage, promote heat radiation from the compressor positioned in the ceiling, which is relatively open, and improve heat radiation from the condenser.
