PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of installing a base isolation device between an upper body and a lower body when reforming an existing building for base isolation or replacing the base isolation device. SOLUTION: On the side of the lower body, a frame is assembled so that the height of the upper end of a steel ball to be arranged later on a steel plate is almost equal to that of the upper face of the lower body. On the frame, the steel plate is arranged continuously with the upper face of the lower body in the approximately horizontal direction. The steel ball is arranged on the steel plate, and the base isolation device is placed on the steel ball to slide until inserted between the upper body and the lower body. An epoxy resin is filled in a gap between the upper side flange of the base isolation device and the upper body and in a gap between the lower side flange and the lower body to fix the base isolation device.
