PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator system capable of safely leading a car, stopped in an emergency such as an earthquake, power failure, breakdown or the like, to a landing place. SOLUTION: The elevator system 200 is equipped with a car 104 disposed in an elevator shaft 101, a governor 106 connected to the car 104 through a governor rope 107, and a winch 102 which is connected to the car 104 through a main rope 103, and moves the car 104 in the vertical direction. A brake 102a which stops driving of the winch 102 to stop the car 104 is mounted to the winch 102, and a brake opening device 10 which opens the brake 102a and guide the car 104 to the landing place is connected to the brake 102a. The brake opening device 10 has an observation window 14 capable of observing the governor rope 107 of the elevator shaft 101 from the landing place 108. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
