The steering wheel (1) has a switch arrangement with four switch elements arranged in a cross formation and able to be individually operated. The switch elements have touch surfaces with different heights. The height of a touch surface of a switch element closer to the wheel rim (2) is lower than that of one further from the rim. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a device for indicating and controlling motor vehicle related functions with an inventive steering wheel.
