<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting method and a sorting apparatus using a sorter, in which a processing speed can be improved and incorrect determination can be suppressed by quickly performing positive determination (determination that an input data belongs to a prescribed classification) and providing an evaluation value suited to post processing in determining whether the input data belongs to the prescribed classification or not by using the sorter learned by ensemble learning (AdaBoost or the like). <P>SOLUTION: Input data (image data) inputted to a face discriminator 34 are inputted to weak sorters C1 to CN and evaluation values indicating degrees that the image of the input data is a face are successively calculated by respective weak sorters C1 to CN. These evaluation values are successively weighted and added by an evaluation combination part 40 to calculate weighted evaluation values. An evaluation value interruption determination part J2 determines whether each of the weighted evaluation values successively calculated by the evaluation combination part exceeds a threshold β or not, and when the weighted evaluation value exceeds the threshold β, determines that the image is the face and stops the operation of the following weak sorters. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
