<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation system capable of suppressing a carrier component (f<SB>0</SB>), a higher component (for example, a secondary component (f<SB>0</SB>±2f<SB>m</SB>)), etc. <P>SOLUTION: The optical modulation system includes a Mach-Zehunder waveguide (8); a first intensity modulator (9) provided at a first arm (4), a second intensity modulator (10) provided at a second arm (5), an electrode (MZ<SB>CA</SB>electrode) (13a)for a first main Mach-Zehunder; and an electrode (MZ<SB>CB</SB>electrode) (13b) for a second main Mach-Zehunder and thereby the phases of the suppressing components propagating through the respective arms are made into antiphases and are thereafter multiplexed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
