PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital television system in which desired contents can be viewed through simple operation without performing any complicated remote control operation. SOLUTION: In a digital television system, content identification information specifying a channel or broadcasting program being broadcasted is outputted from a broadcast receiver 10. The content identification information is written into an electronic tag buried in a recording medium 20 through an electronic tag reader/writer 40, and a visible indication for visually displaying the content identification information is formed on the recording medium 20. On the other hand, a remote controller 30 comprises a reader for reading information stored in the electronic tag, and channel identification information stored in the electronic tag is read and outputted as a modulated optical signal. A viewer recognizes a desired channel from the visual indication of the recording medium, and only by reading the information of the electronic tag through the remote controller 30 and transmitting the read information to the broadcast receiver 10, desired broadcasting contents can be viewed.
