PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically active diphenylalanine compound. SOLUTION: An optically active diphenylalanine compound (e.g., L-2-acetylamino-3,3-diphenylpropanoic acid) is obtained by reacting a diphenylalanine compound (e.g., 2-acetylamino-3,3-diphenylpropanoic acid) with an optically active amine compound (e.g., (R)-(+)-1-(4-methylphenyl)ethylamine) in the presence of an organic solvent to obtain a diastereomer and treating the diastereomer under an acidic condition.
