PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion assisting device for an endoscope to reliably insert and remove an insertion portion of an endoscope into and from the insertion assisting device and an endoscope apparatus. SOLUTION: The endoscope apparatus is equipped with the endoscope 10 having a first balloon 60 which is inflated and deflated, mounted on the insertion portion 12, and fixed by fitting a fixing ring 62 outside of the balloon 60 and the insertion assisting device 70 formed into a cylindrical shape for assisting with the insertion by penetrating the insertion portion 12. The insertion assisting device 70 is constituted in a manner that an inner diameter of the distal end portion is enlarged or reduced, and the insertion portion 12 is inserted or removed by enlarging the diameter of the distal end portion.
