COLORING MATTER, OPTICAL RECORDING MATERIAL AND OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coloring matter and an optical recording material which obtain an optical recording medium having a sufficiently high modulation factor, and also to provide the optical recording medium having the sufficiently high modulation factor.

SOLUTION: The coloring matter of this embodiment is contained in a recording layer 3 of an optical recording disk 1. On this optical recording disk 1, information is recorded by irradiation by the light having a prescribed wavelength λLin a wavelength region of 400-420 nm. The absorption spectrum for each wavelength of this coloring matter has a first peak P1positioned nearest on the side of the wavelength shorter than the prescribed wavelength λLand a second peak P2positioned nearest on the side of the wavelength longer than the prescribed wavelength λL. The section D on the side of the wavelength longer than a wavelength λ1at which the peak P1is maximum, in the half-value width W of the peak P1, is 60 nm or less.
